Rough ends, tangles and strands that snap can make hair feel harder to manage. Look at where the change is happening: along the lengths, near the roots or both. Each deserves its own attention.
Hair breakage and root shedding are different
Split ends, short broken pieces and tangles point to damage along the hair fibre, not necessarily a scalp problem. Heat, chemical processing and rough handling can contribute. If fullness is also changing at the roots, discuss that separately. Scalp cleansing cannot permanently mend split ends.

A few things worth noticing
You do not need to work out the cause yourself. These details simply give us a clearer place to start.
- The lengths
- Look for uneven short pieces, tangles and rough-feeling ends.
- Daily handling
- Consider brushing, towel drying, styling tools and how much pulling occurs.
- The roots
- If density also seems to change at the scalp, discuss that separately.
Between visits
Practical steps for your routine
- Condition according to your hair texture, and detangle slowly from the ends upward. A wide-tooth comb can reduce pulling.
- Gently absorb moisture with a towel rather than rubbing. Use lower heat settings and reduce frequent heat styling.
- Treat broken lengths and scalp symptoms as separate concerns. Seek medical advice if breakage accompanies unexplained shedding or patches of loss.
Care at Dr.Scalp
Finding the right care for you
Tell us whether your main concern is scalp comfort, damaged lengths or a combination of the two. We can help you explore suitable scalp maintenance while keeping expectations for the existing hair fibre realistic.
A place for traditional herbal care
Yao-inspired scalp maintenance centres on cleansing and nourishment. Botanical scalp care is a supportive ritual; it does not permanently rebuild a split end. Gentler handling between visits remains an important part of caring for damaged lengths.
